I see you over there.
Ghostwriting requires sincere curiosity.
How does ghostwriting work?
A subject matter expert (SME) isn't always a master communicator or writer. In fact, sometimes those who know a lot really struggle to effectively and persuasively articulate their ideas, position, or solutions.
An interview or series of interviews allows me to tap into the expertise and essence of the SME and produce content that is published under their name.
While I do all the writing, the SME gets the "credit."
Ghostwriting isn't one thing.
It's a cluster of microskills: operating with calm, strategic thinking; asking just the right questions in just the right way; listening with complete and total attention; reflecting back to the other party that you have both heard and understood; synthesizing seemingly disparate information to make a sensible whole; and telling the "story" in a discerning, compelling, and authentic way.
Hello!
I'm Jean. I started writing seriously (poetry) when I was an undergrad. I then earned my BA and MA in English, spent many years teaching the writing fundamentals to college students, and then made my way over to content marketing writing.
I enjoy living in an apartment in the city. The elevator rides to my 6th floor unit have provided me with endless entertainment and opportunities for connection. Examples: A 5th floor couple met each other while they were both working on a cruise ship. A guy from the 2nd floor quit his WFH tech job to manage a restaurant downtown because he was tired of being micromanaged. A couple with all their houseplants in their arms was moving to LA, with absolutely no plan except to figure it out when they get there.
Why do I share these details?
Well, it's my opinion that the best writers —the most effective communicators — are naturally and sincerely curious. We see you over there. We want to know what makes you tick. We want to talk to you in a way that works for you. And we want you to walk away from us feeling a little better somehow.
